Timo der Weduwen
KRIM™ Programme Director
Timo der Weduwen (The Netherlands, 1962) specializes in managing risks in international high-risk environments, kidnap-for-ransom incident management and security training. He has managed specialist teams in these fields for several decades. He served for more than 30 years in senior positions with the Netherlands Police, the European Union and the United Nations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America. First as director of the Police Academy of Amsterdam and The Hague and later in his capacity as Chief Training for the United Nations Department of Safety and Security, Timo is a strong advocate for competency based dual-learning solutions, enabling students to learn in the classroom, but especially through mentored practice.
He is the chief-moderator for phase II, III and IV of the KRIM™ Programme and supports Phase I as supporting subject matter expert in direct communication with the participants through the programme’s web-support function.
Timo is a graduate of Scotland Yard's international hostage negotiation program and a senior hostage negotiator for 24 years on the global stage. He has been responsible for the training of the United Nations hostage incident management and security management cadre, and aims at bolstering personal and organizational excellence through creating effective responses to crisis incidents. He remains active as a crisis responder in kidnap for ransom incidents.
Timo is the managing director of TisaMayo International Consultancy (www.tisamayo.com) and provides best-practice based security risk management services to clients all over the world.
Timo has a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and is an alumnus of the Police Academy in the Netherlands. He has three children and lives with his wife in Stallarholmen, Sweden.
